DR. AMES

Although born in Kansas, Dr. Ames grew up in Michigan in a suburb of Detroit. He remained there through college and completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at Wayne State University in 1980. He continued at the Wayne State School of Medicine where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 1984. His orthopedic training was completed at the Northwest Detroit Orthopedic Residency in 1989.He moved to Dayton in July of that year to join Far Oaks Orthopedists and has remained here with his wife to raise their five daughters. He is board certified, a member of the Dayton Orthopedic Society as well as the Ohio Orthopedic Society and is an active fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is a general orthopedist and has a special interest in joint reconstruction, fracture fixation and sports medicine.
Dr. Ames is on the staff at Miami Valley Hospital, the Far Hills Surgery Center and Kettering Medical Center, where he was the Chief of Orthopedics from 1993 to 2008.
